Merriam-Webster's Word of the Year 2004: Blog

Yesterday, Merriam-Webster, the American equivalent of the German Duden, announced their word of the year 2004 and it is:Blog

It was the most looked-up word on their website. So finally, we get something like an offical definition of what a blog is...
Blog noun [short for Weblog] (1999):
a Web site that contains an online personal journal with reflections, comments, and often hyperlinks provided by the writer
Looks like weblogs now found their way into the mainstream !?
